Ibn Abi’d-Dunyâ mentioned that Dâwûd (peace be upon Him) asked Allâh: “What is the least of Your blessings?” Allâh revealed to him: “O Dâwûd, take a breath.” Dâwûd did so, and Allâh told him: “This is the least of My blessings on you.”
ALLAH’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said: "All children of Adam make mistakes, but the best of those who make mistakes are those who repent.” (Ibn Majah, Al-Tirmidhi)
The most common questions I get from young people are, "Do Muslims date?" and "If they don't date, how do they decide whom to marry?"
"Dating" as it is currently practiced in much of the world does not exist among Muslims -- where a young man and woman (or boy/girl) are in a one-on-one intimate relationship, spending time together alone, "getting to know each other" in a very deep way before deciding whether that's the person they will marry. Rather, in Islam pre-marital relationships of any kind between members of the opposite sex is forbidden.
The choice of a marriage partner is one of the most important decisions a person will make in his or her lifetime. It should not be taken lightly, nor left to chance or hormones. It should be taken as seriously as any other major decision in life - with prayer, careful investigation, and family involvement.
So in today's world, how do young people manage? First of all, Muslim youth develop very close friendships with their same-sex peers. This "sisterhood" or "brotherhood" that develops when they are young continues throughout their lives. When a young person decides to get married, the following steps often take place:
Young person makes du'a for Allah to help him or her find the right person
The family enquires, discusses, and suggests candidates. They consult with each other to narrow down potential prospects. Usually the father or mother approaches the other family to suggest a meeting.
Couple agrees to meet in chaperoned, group environment. Umar related that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Not one of you should meet a woman alone unless she is accompanied by a relative (mahram)" (Bukhari/Muslim). The Prophet (peace be upon him) also reportedly said, "Whenever a man is alone with a woman, Satan (Shaytan) is the third among them" (Tirmidhi). When young people are getting to know each other, being alone together is a temptation toward wrongdoing. At all times, Muslims should follow the commands of the Qur'an (24:30-31) to "lower their gaze and guard their modesty...." Islam recognizes that we are human and are given to human weakness, so this rule provides safeguards for our own sake.
Family investigates candidate further - talking with friends, family, Islamic leaders, co-workers, etc. to learn about his or her character.
Couple prays salat-l-istikhara (prayer for guidance) to seek Allah's help in making a decision.
Couple agrees to pursue marriage or part ways. Islam has given this freedom of choice to both young men and women - they cannot be forced into a marriage that they don't want.
This type of focused courtship helps ensure the strength of the marriage, by drawing upon family elders' wisdom and guidance in this important life decision. Family involvement in the choice of a marriage partner helps assure that the choice is based not on romantic notions, but rather on a careful, objective evaluation of the compatibility of the couple. That is why these marriages often prove successful.
i will, accept you, with open arms, with gratefulness, and syukr...
i will, love you, forever and always.
but wait...
before that time comes, not should i be asking...
...who might you be?... ...in what manner and, ...for what reason we'll meet?.. ...no.....no, i should not.
for because, if He is the reason for our meeting, then insyaAllah, undoubtedly, you are the best for me, and i (insyaAllah, hopefully) am the best for you. [insyaAllah]
O men! Fear your Lord Who created you from a single being and out of it created its mate; and out of the two spread many men and women.Fear Allah in Whose name you plead for rights, and heed the ties of kinship. Surely, Allah is ever watchful over you.
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.
Why read the Quran even though we can't understand it?
An old American Muslim lived on a farm in the mountains of eastern Kentucky with his young grandson. Each morning Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading his Quraan. His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could. One day the grandson asked, "Grandpa, I try to read the Quraan just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does reading the Quraan do?"The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and replied, "Take this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a basket of water." The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked out before he got back to the house. The grandfather laughed and said, "You'll have to move a little faster next time," and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again. This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home. Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was impossible to carry water in a basket, and he went to get a bucket instead. The old man said, "I don't want a bucket of water; I want a basket of water. You're just not trying hard enough," and he went out the door to watch the boy try again. At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would leak out before he got back to the house. The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran hard, but when he reached his grandfather the basket was again empty. Out of breath, he said, "See Grandpa, it's useless!""So you think it is useless?" The old man said, "Look at the basket." The boy looked at the basket and for the first time realized that the basket was different. It had been transformed from a dirty old coal basket and was now clean, inside and out."Son, that's what happens when you read the Quraan. You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it, you will be changed, inside and out. That is the work of ﷲﺃ in our lives."
Ya Allah, kami letakkan Mu di batang leher musuh kami dan kami berlindung denganMu dari kejahatan mereka. Ya Allah, leburkan kumpulan mereka, kacau bilaukan persatuan mereka, cerai beraikan pakatan mereka, goncangkan pendirian mereka, hantarkan anjing-anjing Mu keatas mereka. Wahai Tuhan yang Maha Perkasa, Wahai Tuhan yang Maha Murka, Ya Allah... Wahai Tuhan yang menurunkan Al-Quran, Wahai Tuhan yang menggerakkan awan, Wahai Tuhan yang menewaskan bala tentera Al-Ahzab, kalahkan mereka, menangkanlah kami keatas mereka Amin Ya Rabbal A'lamin....
Hundreds of Palestinians have been killed and thousands more injured [Reuters]
Violence has resumed in the Gaza Strip after a three-hour lull that allowed beleaguered residents to look for food and fuel.
Al Jazeera's Zeina Awad, reporting from the Israel-Gaza border in the early hours of Thursday, said it was clear that Israeli air attacks had intensified and explosions could be heard over Gaza as the Israeli assault entered its 13th day.
There were reports that the presidential palace in Gaza had been hit as well as police stations. Al Jazeera confirmed that a mosque had been hit, injuring 15 people.
Wednesday's lull was followed by news that Israel's security cabinet had approved an expansion to the offensive in Gaza as part of its stated aim to halt Hamas cross-border rocket attacks.
Offensive to broaden
Despite the onslaught in Gaza, eight rockets were fired from the territory into southern Israel on Wednesday.
Ehud Olmert, the Israeli prime minister, chaired the security cabinet meeting in Jerusalem which "approved continuing the ground offensive, including a third stage that would broaden it by pushing deeper into populated areas," a senior defence official said.
The final decision would be left to Ehud Barak, the Israeli defence minister, the official added.
Israel warned thousands of people in the Rafah zone on the Egyptian border to leave their houses ahead of planned air raids on Thursday.
"You have until 8am [06:00 GMT]," said leaflets which were dropped by the Israeli military.
Witnesses said that a house and a suspected smuggling tunnel were hit in two raids early on Thursday.
At least 700 Palestinians, including 219 children, have died in Gaza since Israel began its assault on December 27. More than 3,080 people have also been wounded.
Seven Israeli soldiers and three civilians have died in the same period.
Onslaught continues
Soon after the three-hour lull on Wednesday, an Israeli air raid on a car in Beit Lahia, near Gaza's northern border with Israel, killed three children and their father, who was described as a civilian by medical workers in the besieged strip.
Palestinians and aid workers in and around Gaza City had used Wednesday's brief respite to recover dead bodies, treat the wounded, and gather much-needed supplies in and around Gaza City.
The military announced a three-hour lull in fighting to open a 'humanitarian corridor' [AFP]
Peter Lerner, an Israeli military spokesman, announced "offensive" military action across the strip would be suspended for three hours every alternating day, although the timings may vary.
Despite this, Israeli air raids were reported in other parts of the Palestinian territory during Wednesday's announced timeframe of 1pm-4pm.
Most of Wednesday's clashes occurred in northern Gaza, with explosions reported in Jabalya and Beit Lahia.
In Gaza City, four people were killed and seven injured outside a mosque in the Sheik Radwan neighbourhood.
Two people were also killed earlier when the Zeitoun district was targeted from the air.
Further south, air raids hit the towns of Khan Yunis and Rafah, where over 20 houses were destroyed.
Around 15,000 Palestinians have had to flee the fighting so far, but have found few places safe, with even schools converted into UN shelters being hit.
An Israeli attack on a school run by the UN Relief and Works Agency in the northern town of Jabaliya on Tuesday left 43 Palestinians dead and around 100 wounded.
Israeli officials said missiles were fired from the UN building and that their troops were simply returning fire.
Heba, a Gaza resident and mother of two, told Al Jazeera there was no place left in Gaza that could be considered safe.
"What happened in the school was a hugely offensive and inhumane thing. We never expected that people who sought refuge in a UN building would be attacked and killed," she said.
comments:
from this disturbing news (sourced from Al Jazeera), we must come to terms that the Isrealis who are performing these inhumane attacks on helpless and innocent civilians are waypassed the boarder, their actions are unacceptable and unforgiveable!!..
and in these such times, we as the brothers and sisters of the palestinians should play a role or contribute a part(big or small) in helping them either at the utmost (helping them directly) or simply by indirect ways..one way is to apply the recitation of qunut nazilah* in our daily prayers..in the time of the propet, there was mass killing of the qurra's (sahabah of the prophet s.a.w who memerized the quran) in sumur Ma'unah..because of that, he (s.a.w) recitated qunut nazilah for one whole month..
wallahualam..
*recited after the ruku'(iktidal), during the last rakaat of the prayer..generally it was done in times of hardships, calamities, etc
we might be distance, miles or even countries apart.... but my remembrance of u (insyaAllah) will be there, inside my heart... -_-
dear friends.....
if ever a day comes that we won't be able to see each other again, don't despair... for insyaAllah, with His love and care, He will meet us again if not in our dreams, maybe in the hereafter (akhirah)...insyaAllah...... -_-
to live is to experience.. to want is to desire.. to know is to understand.. ****************************************** in all that is past, present & future, everything happens for a reason. ****************************************** and He forever knows best :)
